Many years ago, I was riding my bike home from work in Las Vegas. I lived out in a residential area, far from the lights of the Strip.
It was an especially dark night, right around midnight. The sky was full of stars and not a car was on the road anywhere around me.
I was singing a worship song. Just me. One voice in the darkness.
And I was thinking — what is one voice? What does one voice do, or mean, in the grand scheme of things?
As I rode and sang, I began to see my voice as a light rising up from me toward the heavens. And as I looked around, I could see other voices — other lights — rising up. One here. One there. Another over there. My point of view moved back and up until I could see all across the city. One voice rising, and another, and another. All of them joining together in the heavens until their light filled the sky like the stars.
Today, I speak. One voice.
I am neither politically savvy nor a biblical scholar. I am a woman who has walked with God for more than 40 years. I like to think we have a good relationship. We talk daily. I try to live a life that is pleasing to Him.
It is 2026, and it’s hard. It’s hard to know anything with certainty right now.
In this space I will speak. I will bear witness to what is happening. I will walk honestly through the struggle of living in these times — trying to come to answers within myself about how a Christian should be, well, a Christian. A follower of Christ. Not a political identity. Not a label. A follower.
I don’t always have answers. I have questions, and prayer, and forty years of walking with Someone who has never let me go.
